Children at Whitefield make the most progress out of all the Primary Schools in the country in Reading! The value added measure puts Whitefield 1st out of over 20,000 schools for the progress made Key Stage 1 to 2 (104.1)

Most Inspirational Primary School (Merseyside) Educate Awards 2014

Awarded for successes that have inspired pupils, parents and the community.  Judges looked for innovative approaches with measured success.

 Communication Award, Educate Awards 2014

Awarded for excellence across the full media spectrum and strong communication links with pupils, parents, governors, local community and any wider audiences.  Judges looked for measured and creative approaches. Whitefield was praised for its embrace of social media, pupil led blogs, innovative website, offline or online publications, wide media/press coverage and links to other schools and to the City of Liverpool.

In top 250 primary schools nationally (top 1%) for progress from Key Stages 1 to 2

Our pupils make amazing progress fast! By the time they leave Year 6 they have all made phenomenal progress. David Laws, Minister of State for Education wrote to the school in Dec 2013 confirming our place in the top 250 schools nationally: “ Your school is exceptionally effective in educating its pupils”

Reading Recovery national school of the Year 2014, Reading for enjoyment

We fund 2 Reading Recovery teachers from Pupil Premium funding to intervene early with children who need to make accelerated progress in reading. The 20 week programme means 1 to 1 support daily from specialist staff. Children can make a year of progress. The Award recognises the excellence of the programme at Whitefield and our drive to not only aspire to the highest standards but to promote reading for pleasure locally,  nationally and internationally through the European home of Reading Recovery, The International Literacy Centre. As a result of the award we have worked in partnership with Save the Children UK as a launch school for the National Read on, Get on campaign September 2014

National Literacy Trust Network School of the Year 2014 and Liverpool Reading Quality Mark (Gold Standard, 2014)

National Parent Partnership Award 2013

The award recognises outstanding practice particularly in offering opportunities for parents. School offers a several innovative groups including Fab Dads and Kids Reading café in partnership with LJMU, and a parents’ autism support group.

Liverpool Community Superstars Education Award 2014, Educational Excellence

Recognition of inspirational practice and people from the city of Liverpool who have moved others to fulfil their potential and aim for success; or have accomplished their goals by willpower and outstanding ability.

Outstanding results at both Key Stages 2014

Attendance above national and local averages at 97.4% for 2013-14 – This is amazing! Prior to 2011 attendance was 92% to 93% rising to 95% in 2012. There are 0% persistent absentees (less than 85% attendance)
